Bodo City Community, again has come face to face with Shell over recent oil spills in the Community caused by Shell Equipment Failures. Three different Ocasions of these spills were discovered in recent time, causing huge damages to the Bodo City Environment.
Reports earlier claimed that Shell has blamed residents of Bodo City of Pipeline Vandalization, accusing the Community of breaking into the Pipelines.
This was plainly disproved as several evaluations show the Leakages were only cases of Equipment failure. On Friday October 7th, Shell accepted the claims of Equipment failure by the People of Bodo and agreed to enter Negotiations with the Community.
₦10 million Naira Rumours?
Shortly after Shell agreed to negotiate with the Community, there were Rumors that Shell has agreed to Pay ₦10m Naira to each individual in Bodo City as Compensations. Bodo City Media can confirm that this claim that went viral online is NOT TRUE. Sources close to the Community Leadership confirmed to us that Negotiations will go on between Shell and Bodo people, but no amount has been agreed yet. Though the Representatives of the Community are Positive that a compensation may be by the corner.
